DALI

FOLLOWING THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF MACBETH FROM INFECTION SUSTAINED FROM A MYSTERIOUS WOUND ON 21st FEBRUARY THIS YEAR, THE HUNT WAS ON TO FIND A SUITABLE REPLACEMENT.

DALI, A 7 YEAR OLD, 8-FOOT FEMALE BOA CONSTRICTOR ARRIVED ON MARCH 18 2011......OR SO I THOUGHT.....AS A VETERINARY EXAM HAS SUBSEQUENTLY INDICATED THAT SHE IS MOST LIKELY A HE!!

DALI MADE HIS FIRST APPEARANCE WITH ALICE COOPER IN

 DUBLIN  IN JUNE 2011

HE FINISHED THE HALLOWEEN NIGHTS OF FEAR TOUR WITH ALICE IN THE UK WHERE HE

APPEARS IN THE TELEVISED SKY 3D AND SKY ARTS 1 RECORDING.

DALI MISSED THE SHEFFIELD SHOW DUE TO AN OVERDUE EVENT WHICH RESOLVED SOON AFTER.

THANKFULLY NO ROCK STARS WERE INCONVENIENCED ALONG THE WAY!!

HE IS CONFIRMED TO APPEAR AT bLOODSTOCK ON AUGUST 12 2012 AND WILL BE ON TOUR WITH ALICE IN THE UK AT HALLOWEEN 2012

Dali made her first appearance with Alice in Dublin on June 8 2011 after a dodgy interview which she almost blew the previous night.

Her UK tour was to involve a 1200 mile drive/ferry from home in Scotland to N. Ireland, S. Ireland...back thru Wales to England ...then the monster drive from London back home

In Belfast, I had expected her to appear during 'Is It My Body'.  I was in the pit....camera poised....awaiting her arrival but Alice appeared....snakeless....for the song!!

A bit surprised, I realised by 'School's Out' that she wasn't going to appear!

After the show, I saw Alice who enquired 'What you feeding that thing?...It weighs as much as me!!'

He had only met the snake about an hour before show time. She was a little lively and he was concerned that she was too heavy on his shoulders.

For a few minutes I thought he was saying no.

However he did agree to try her in Dublin....and the rest is history.

After Dublin he agreed she was a 'great' snake and she was to be off to France for the friday gig at Montereau before returning for Donington on Saturday.

A further surprise was to be in store after the Download gig.

I went back to Production to collect her after the show and after staying over in Derby, I planned to return home on Sunday morning.

However, Shep approached me as they were leaving for London and asked if they could take her with them for a photoshoot with Alice in London on Sunday morning.

Hadn't seen this coming but, preferring to offer solutions rather than problems, she left for London.

I am so glad I did!!

It transpired that the photoshoot was with Ross Halfin!

It further transpired that the shots will be used in the Classic Rock special release of the new W2MN album in September!

She also appeared with Alice at the memorable 100 Club gig in Oxford Street on June 26.

Dali narrowly missed her first movie appearance with Alice in Tim Burton's new movie, Dark Shadows. Sadly red tape thwarted the plan and Alice recorded his cameo without her.

She will be back out on tour with Alice in UK and Europe for the Night of Fear tour in October 2011

Dali has already attracted some local press interest in the lead-up to her appearance at the opening of Animal Magic in Haddington on Saturday October 1st

STEP aside Fish. . . there's a new Haddington rocker in town and she's one slippery customer.

Dali, an eight-foot long boa constrictor owned by Haddington's Bill Crowe, has wowed audiences across the UK this year while draped around the neck of legendary rock hell-raiser Alice Cooper.

Bill, a nurse at Haddington's Herdmanflat Hospital and reptile enthusiast, had supplied Alice with a 12-foot boa constrictor called Lady Macbeth since 1998.

A massive fan of Alice for 40 years, Bill first met his idol at a record signing in 1997. Bill told the singer's management team that he could provide a snake as an eye-catching addition to the rocker's performances. . . and the rest is rock music hiss-tory.

However, after more than 10 years of rock and roll living Lady Macbeth lived up to her tragic name and passed away this February from an infection.

Of course, the show must go on, and Bill, 54, acquired Dali in March.

The snake made her first appearance with Alice in Dublin in June - though the two-stone reptile almost missed out on her chance to share a stage with the rock legend.

Bill, who is married to Mary and has a stepson, John, explained: "The previous night we were at a gig in Belfast and I had expected her to appear during the song 'Is It My Body'. But when Alice appeared Dali was nowhere to be seen.

"I was a bit worried, then after the show I saw Alice, who called to me: 'What have you been feeding that thing? It weighs as much as me!'

"He had only met the snake about an hour before show time. He was concerned that she was too heavy but he tried her again in Dublin and it all worked out."

Since then, Dali, accompanied by Bill, has appeared at the Download festival at Donington Park, at the 100 Club in London, and at a gig in Montereau, France. The snake also featured with Alice in Classic Rock magazine's September edition.

Dali will be back on tour with Alice in the UK and Europe for the Night of Fear tour in October but before she hits the road again, the rocking reptile appears at the opening of a new pet supplies shop in Haddington tomorrow (Saturday), 10am-11.30am.

Animal Magic Pet Supplies at 24 High Street - the previous premises of Mike's Bikes - will be run by manageress Fiona MacDonald and Fiona Clark, who both worked at the Acorn Pet Centre in Haddington before the shop closed in May.
